Do-It-Yourself

Architect to teach landscape design

Posted

The Crawfordsville Seed Library is thrilled to host Steve Galegor in its March Learning Series this Thursday. The event will be in Donnelley Room A of the Crawfordsville District Public Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public. The topic will be Landscape Design DIY.

“Today, we have a bewildering amount of choices and availability for the home gardener and the ‘inner designer’ in all of us,” Galegor said. “Like any home improvement and investment, it is best done with a plan, and given the ever-changing nature of seasons, weather, and growth, a plan for your yard can seem complicated.”

The program on Thursday will help you develop your own plans through basic design tips and practicalities to enjoy the extension of your home, the outdoors, which is often the first impression your property makes. Galegor will help you develop a quick design plan, so you know where to put that tree, shrub or flower that catches your eye in the garden center next time. We will connect you with valuable resources so you can build your confidence and enjoy that weekend afternoon in the yard.

Galegor has an extensive background in landscape design. He received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Ball State University. He designed and installed projects with EDAW, an international landscape architecture, urban, and environmental design firm in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and San Francisco, California. He also worked for the prestigious Campell Okuma Perkins firm in Sante Fe, New Mexico, which designed the Rio Grande Botanical Garden, among its many well-known projects.

Registration for the class is suggested but not necessary on the CDPL calendar events page. For more details on this and other upcoming programs, visit www.cdpl.lib.in.us. Additional inquiries can be sent to CvilleSeedLibrary@gmail.com.
