Bernice Stewart Wilson, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Ben Hur Nursing Home, Crawfordsville.
She was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Montgomery County, to James and Ada Stewart. Bernice attended school in Parkersburg and New Market and graduated in 1950. She was one of six children: Marion Stewart (deceased); Bonnie Jolly, Jacksonville, Florida; Ann Graham (deceased); Mary Francis (Toadie) Noland, Roachdale; and Shirley Ford, St. John, Indiana.
Bernice and husband John T. Wilson were married for 66 years and lived in Roachdale. They had two children, Tom, Lebanon, and Susan (William) Denney, Bluffton. Her three grandchildren are Bill (Allison) Denney, Granville, Ohio, Cameron (Lauren) Denney, Petoskey, Michigan, and Graham Denney, Bluffton. Her only great-grandchild is Cameron’s son, Beckham Denney.
Bernice played piano at the Roachdale Christian Church from the mid 1960s until early 2023. She was a private piano teacher and played piano at the Parkersburg Christian Church from her teenage years until 1957. Bernice was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church, the church choir and Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut St., Roachdale, IN 46172, with Pastors Nate Bryan and Glen McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may gather at the church for visitation starting at 10 a.m. Thursday until 1 p.m.
