Board approves road closures,

Sets trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31

The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved several requests Wednesday, including road closures for upcoming events, Halloween trick-or-treating hours, an emergency storm water repair and mowing orders.

The board approved a request from Wabash College to close Jennison Street from South Grant Avenue to Sycamore Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 for Wabash’s Homecoming game.

The board approved several requests from the Crawfordsville Parks and Recreation Department related to the final Farmers Market and 2026 Oktoberfest at Pike Place on Oct. 3. Pike Street at Pike Place will close from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Farmers Market, with Pike Place reserved from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. for Oktoberfest.

The board approved 2026 Halloween trick-or-treating hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. West Main Street will close from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from South Grant Avenue to South Barr Street for trick-or-treating.

Price Excavating received approval to close West Main Street from North Barr Street to North Vine Street beginning Sept. 21. The closure could last up to five days.

Rick Hernandez received approval to place a dumpster on Pike Street at the Beta Learning Center and add no-parking signs during parking lot renovations Sept. 21-25.

The board approved a request from Ed McGaughey, street commissioner, to close the alley at 116 N. Green St. because of an unsafe building. The closure began Sept. 16 and will remain until repairs are made to the property.

Chris Moore of the storm water department received approval to declare an emergency repair at 100 E. North St. after a storm line collapsed. The line needs immediate repair because a sewage line runs through it.

Gary Isenburg received approval to block one parking space in front of 126 E. Main St. on Sept. 22 for a lift to inspect the building façade and brick structure.

Barry Lewis, code enforcement officer, received approval for mowing work orders at 713 E. College St., owned by Mike and Nancy Hook; 1000 E. Market St., owned by Way 2 Go Management Inc.; 1302 E. Wabash Ave., owned by George Alongi; and 203 S. Water St., owned by Malcolm Tanner.
