Members of the Board of Public Works & Safety approved a request by Dale Petrie with First Christian Church to conduct a 5K race on April 14.

Petrie told the board Wednesday that the race will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. It will begin and end at the church parking lot in the 200 block of South Walnut Street. The race route will be on the city’s west side and includes portions of the following streets, Walnut Street and Wabash Avenue as well as Main, Barr and Russell streets.

Petrie said this is the church’s second annual 5K race. Last year’s race was conducted earlier in the year and was met with cold and wet conditions. Organizers moved this year’s race in hopes of having better weather conditions.
