The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved several agenda items Wednesday, including road closures for three upcoming community events.

The board approved a request from the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau for road closures during the annual Suicide Prevention Walk on Sept. 26. Joe Allen Parkway through the park will close from 9 to 10 a.m.

The board also approved a request from the Montgomery County Visitors & Convention Bureau to prohibit parking in the 700 and 800 blocks of West Main Street, between Marshall and North Blair streets, after noon on Aug. 1, to allow for setup for the second annual Porchfest.

The Durham Home requested and received approval for a partial alley closure from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 29, for its “Through the Wicket” Croquet Fundraiser. The closure includes the alleys between West Pike and West Main streets along with South Walnut Street and South Grant avenue. Homeowners will continue to have access.

In other business, the board:

• Approved an agreement between the city and Biddle Construction for construction of the Crawfordsville Street Department’s new barn at the yard waste site. The contract totals $211,254.

• Approved a proposal from W Enterprises to demolish the street department’s yard waste barn for $10,000.

• Approved a notice of award for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Digester Improvements project. The board previously awarded a conditional bid to Thieneman Construction for $3,683,000, contingent on the city securing financing. With financing now in place, the project can move forward under the contract.

• Approved work order requests submitted by Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis for 1302 E. Wabash Ave., owned by George Alongi, for mowing and bush trimming, and 916 Westwood Drive, owned by Terry and Rita Paxton, for mowing.
