Board opens bids for paving, pumper truck

CPD Chief announces three recent promotions

The Board of Public Works & Safety met Wednesday and opened bids for street paving and a fire apparatus.

David Price Excavating of Crawfordsville was the sole bidder for the 2022 Community Crossings Paving Program. The bid was for $366,879. It was tabled for review.

MacQueen Emergency Group of Whitestown was the sole bidder for a triple combination pumper for the city fire department. The bid was for $830,000 and it also was tabled for review.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a request from Belinda Barnett to place a dumpster at 316 E. Jefferson St. for 10 days beginning Aug. 5. The request was approved but is not to exceed the 10 days.

• Approved requests from Barry Lewis, Code Enforcement Officer, to have the city street department mow at the following properties: 1500 W. Main St., owned by Charles Robinson; 605 Tuttle Ave., owned by Carl and Amy Vangilder; and 513 Tuttle Ave., owed by Mark Poynter.

• Learned three city officers were recognized Tuesday during a promotion ceremony at the City Building. Detective Sgt. Jared Templeman was promoted to Detective Lieutenant. Sergeant Jared Colley was promoted to Lieutenant and Officer Kevin Cornell was promoted to Sergeant.
