Bids received last week for two proposed park projects require further review.
Brandy Allen, director of operations and community development for the city, told members of the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety on Wednesday that it will likely be another week before she is prepared to offer recommendations for awarding the construction contracts. Allen said company references are being checked and the bid documents remain under review.
The board opened bids Aug. 16 for proposed renovation work at Lincoln Park on the city’s east side and for the development of Brickyard Nature Park on the city’s north side.
Three companies submitted bids for both projects. They are All American Construction & Hauling of Indianapolis, Spencer Construction of Lafayette and Murphy Construction of Indianapolis.
Bids for Lincoln Park were $460,000 from All American, $940,000 from Murphy Construction and $1,243,000 from Spencer Construction. Bids for Brickyard Nature Park were $430,000 from All American, $880,000 from Murphy Construction and $1,280,000 from Spencer Construction.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a request from Alonna Hunt to place a dumpster at 618 W. Pike St., beginning today through Monday.
• Approved multiple work order requests from Barry Lewis, code enforcement officer, for mowing at: 306 W. North St., owned by Smooth Acquisitions, LLC; 1001 E. Chestnut St., owned by Our Way Home Foundations, LLC; 1214 W. Market S., owned by Zachary Cunningham; 212 Bluff St., owned by Rusty and Erin Stevens; 910 Tuttle Ave., owned by Remling Properties, LLC; and 912 Tuttle Ave., owned by Teresa Goodnight.
