Repair Request

BOW approves sidewalk maintenance loan app

When Don and Dodie Fuller needed to fix the sidewalk in front of their South Grace Avenue home, they asked the city for a loan.

Crawfordsville’s Sidewalk Maintenance & Improvement fund provides money to homeowners, who hire their own company to make the repairs. The city sets aside $24,000 for the fund every year.

The Fullers’ application, which was approved Wednesday by the Board of Public Works and Safety, was the city’s first request for the loan this year, clerk-treasurer Terri Gadd said. No applications were submitted last year, she added.

The $4,000 loan, which the Fullers’ have opted to pay back over five years, covers all but a grand of the project cost, Gadd said. The Fullers’ will pay the remaining amount to their contractor, she said.

In other business, the board approved a mowing request from code enforcement officer Barry Lewis for the property at 403 E. College St.
