Bowman named dean of students at NMMS

Posted

LINDEN — North Montgomery Middle School’s newest dean of students is Laura Bowman, approved and announced Monday at the district’s monthly meeting.

Bowman, a high school English teacher, comes to NMMS from Brownsburg High School where she taught for five years. Before that, she taught American literature to juniors and British literature to seniors at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar.

She is excited to begin her term as dean for the middle school, Superintendent Dr. Colleen Moran said.

Bowman is well-versed in education, receiving her bachelor’s in secondary English education from IUPUI before obtaining a master’s degree from Ball State. She has been a leader in Professional Learning Communities and related career development for educators at Brownsburg, where she is also an active member of the district’s school leadership and site equity leadership teams.

However, now she is ready to continue her trend with the junior Chargers of NMMS.

Though Bowman has served schools in nearby counties, she and her husband Will and daughter Lydia live on a Montgomery County farm just outside Ladoga.

Her connections and experiences here are now bringing her career in education full circle.

The next regularly scheduled public meeting for North schools is 6 p.m. May 23 at the administration office, 480 W. C.R. 580N.
