Posted

Local residents, along with members of the Montgomery County Democrat Party and others, are invited to join family and friends of 5th Congressional District Democrat nominee Jeannine Lee Lake, who will be at the Crawfordsville Pizza Hut at noon Tuesday for a meet and greet lunch.

Lee Lake, who was born in Indianapolis and grew up in Crawfordsville, is the daughter of the late Rev. Clarence and Mrs. Betty Lee and the step-daughter of longtime Montgomery County resident Veda (Miller) Lee. She is a 1987 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and graduated from Ball State University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

She also completed coursework for her master’s degree in journalism and is scheduled to complete her thesis in 2023.

Lee Lake is a longtime journalist, working as a newspaper reporter in Muncie with The Star Press and Gannett Newspapers. She also worked at USA Today and now is publisher of The Good News and Elite Media Group, which focuses on faith and minority issues.

Lee Lake ran for office in 2018 and 2020 as the nominee against 6th District Congressman Greg Pence, but now Muncie/Delaware County has been moved to the 5th Congressional District under US Rep. Victoria Spartz.

Lee Lake, who will be accompanied by her longtime “bonus mother” longtime Crawfordsville resident Kathy Anne Haltom, hopes to see family and friends from Hoover Elementary, Tuttle Middle High and Crawfordsville High School, as well as the former Oak Hill Christian Academy.

“There are a lot of people I grew up with in the 70s and 80s before I left for college that I  haven’t seen in years,” Lee Lake said. “I’m honored that my friends and family want to do this for me and I’m excited to come back to my hometown of Crawfordsville.”
