LEBANON — A Crawfordsville woman died Thursday afternoon from injuries she sustained in a head-on collision on State Road 32 in Boone County.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Patricia Renick, 71, of Crawfordsville was traveling westbound in the 4600 block of S.R. 32 when her maroon Honda CRV collided with an eastbound semi-tractor trailer driven by Kevin Davis, 31, of Greenville, South Carolina.
The crash was reported at 1:20 p.m. According to police, after the collision Renick’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch on the north side of the road and the semi-tractor trailer came to rest in a ditch on the south side of the road. Renick was trapped in her vehicle. Rescue workers freed her from the wreckage and placed her in an ambulance to await the arrival of a medical helicopter that had been called to the scene. However, medics from St. Vincent Stat Flight pronounced her dead at 2:40 p.m.
Davis was out of this vehicle and walking when deputies arrived the scene. However, he was transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation.
The road was closed for approximatlely three hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
