In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Shades State Park, the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County is currently seeking artwork highlighting the landscape, use or history of the park.

The exhibit will display all forms of art celebrating the park. The museum welcomes entries of all types including print or digital photography and other digital arts, paintings, three dimensional arts, as well as informal views of people or events at the park. Professional and amateur artists are welcome to submit work for consideration. Works will be returned to the artist at the conclusion of the exhibit.

Artists should send images of their art to Janna Bennett at jbennett.carnegie@cdpl.lib.in.us or call 765-362-4622 to make an appointment to show the work during a Zoom meeting or to make other arrangements to view potential art work. Submission deadline is July 15. A decision will be made by the curatorial team by July 20 on selection of art to be included.

The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 17 to Oct. 29. In conjunction with this exhibit the museum hopes to engage a local artist to guide participants in a wine and painting event. Follow the museum’s social media and newsletter for further information.

The Carnegie Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until July 31. In August, it will return to our normal public hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission to the museum is free, and the building is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
