Carolyn Sue Day Totheroh, 83, of Crawfordsville passed away at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, in Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

She was born Nov. 11, 1940, at Marshfield, Indiana, daughter of the late Robert W. and Anna Marie Johnson Day. She married Walter Totheroh on Dec. 20, 1958, in Stone Bluff. He survives.

Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Attica High School. She and Walter lived in Wingate until 1985 when they moved to Crawfordsville. She worked as a teacher’s aid at Coal Creek Central School and prior to retiring was in the same role at Nicholson Elementary. She also was an assistant to ophthalmologist Dr. Paul Ludwig before retiring.

She enjoyed traveling, knitting, tending her flowers and gardening. She was also known as a phenomenal cook. She and her husband had been attending East Side Baptist Church in Crawfordsville.

Surviving, along with her husband Walter, are daughter Dawne (Scott) Peterson of Lafayette; sons, Mark (Stephanie) Totheroh of Crawfordsville and Robert Mitchell Totheroh of Lafayette; brother Ben (Joy) Day of Lafayette; grandchildren, Graham (Mona) Peterson, Chase (Erica) Peterson, Andrew (Emily) Totheroh, Adam Totheroh (fiancée Farren), Emily (Shandra) Totheroh, Alex Totheroh and Eric Totheroh; and great-grandchildren, Isaac and Emilia Peterson and Bode and Brady Totheroh and another on the way. Her dog Nuggett is mourning her passing as well. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home, Wingate. Pastor Steve Wicker will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.

Memorials in Sue’s memory may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or East Side Baptist Church.
