Cathy F. Wyant, 84, of Darlington passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at Witham Hospital, Lebanon.

Cathy worked as a tollgate clerk on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, then hauled livestock, then worked at the gas station by the Lincoln Lodge at Clarks Hill. Then she bought the Sunset Restaurant and Motel on 52 by Thorntown, later working at Stal-Cop in Thorntown, 14 years at Kroger in Lebanon, the Chatterbox in Colfax and eventually moved back to Pennsylvania to take care of her parents. She liked to care for people. She was a caregiver in Linden, Darlington, Colfax, Crawfordsville and Cicero and assisted several of the local businesses in Darlington.

Cathy liked number search puzzles, sewing, crocheting, rides in the country to look at deer, and walking. She collected clocks, salt and pepper shakers, dolls, music boxes, sun catchers and spoons. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born Oct. 29, 1939, at Blairs Mills, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Russell C. Parson and Evelyn E. Burd Parson. She graduated from the Orbisonia Area Joint High School in 1959.

Her family includes: daughter Rosie (Dan) Zell of Darlington; brother Carl W. Parson of Honey Grove, PA; five grandchildren, Brandi Zell Worley, Brian Zell (fiancé’ Julie Martin), Briawna Zell (Curtis Carson), Bradley Zell (fiancé’ Savana Shrader) and Bailey Zell; she 13 grandchildren, Tyler and Charlee Worley, Ayden and Novaleigh Zell, Miles Merkley, Aspen, Jaxyn and Gunner Zell, Jayce Martin, Alexis Stephens, Braedyn Johnson, Jack and Isaak Carson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth H. Parson Towsey; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 3 p.m., led by Pastor Ron Brown. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
