The Crawfordsville Community School Corporation School Board approved its 2026 budget, plans for upcoming capital projects and bus replacements, and several agreements during its meeting on Thursday.
The board approved the capital projects plan, which outlines projects the corporation currently anticipates over the next three years, and the bus replacement plan, which projects the buses that will need to be replaced over the next five years. The replacement plan is generally based on the age of the vehicles and keeps the corporation on track despite delays in receiving some buses.
The board also approved the adoption of the 2026 budget and a resolution for 2026 appropriations and tax rates.
The board approved a memorandum of understanding with Ivy Tech Community College for dual-credit courses and dual-enrollment opportunities for students. The agreement also reflects that the corporation now meets the criteria for the Indiana College Core Partnership, which offers students 30 dual-credit courses.
A four-year rolling agreement with Sugar Creek Swim Club also was approved. The agreement outlines the financial arrangement between the organizations, their partnership and equipment.
Board members approved revisions to its agreement with the city of Crawfordsville for two full-time school resource officers. The changes address the additional funding the corporation received through the school safety grant this year, allowing it to reimburse more of the cost of providing the officers.
The agreement also establishes a minimum reimbursement amount in case grant funding decreases in a future year, while allowing the corporation to contribute more if it receives additional funding.
The board approved annual United Way grant applications for Willson Preschool and the Crawfordsville Adult Resource Academy.
The Willson Preschool grant will help provide assistance and scholarships for students whose families cannot afford preschool. The CARA grant helps cover instructor costs and supplies for its growing programs.
Members also approved a fall Common School Loan application for $277,200. The funding will go toward software, desktop computers and Chromebooks for students and teachers.
Other business included approval for the Crawfordsville High School baseball team to travel to Nashville, Tennessee, during spring break, from March 29 to April 1, 2027.
Under personnel, the board approved the resignations of Alexis Benge, an assistant at Crawfordsville Middle School, and Maria Seward, an assistant at Hoover Elementary School.
