Charles F. “Charlie” Homsher of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Ben-Hur Health. He was 95.
Charlie was a member of Whitesville Christian Church, Alamo Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and was a life member of Byron Cox American Legion Post 72. He was a member and past president of the Montgomery County Shrine, Sugar Creek Kiwanis and Indiana Implement Dealer’s Association. He was also a former member of the Crawfordsville Eagles. He enjoyed country music and playing euchre. He owned and operated Montgomery Tractor and Implement Co. from 1964 to 1986 and later sold seed for 20 years.
Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-1951 in the 555 Field Artillery. He graduated valedictorian of New Palestine High School, class of 1946. He attended the Indianapolis 500 for over 25 years and also worked over 25 years in the Pioneer Village at the Indiana State Fair.
Born June 10, 1928, at Indianapolis, he was the son of Robert Homsher and Cora Burton Homsher. He married Alice C. Bueter on Oct. 5, 1952. She passed away Feb. 15, 2003.
Surviving family includes: two sons, Alan Homsher and Wayne Homsher, both of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sister Lois Mauzy; and companion Maxine Hockersmith.
Memorial services with military rites and Masonic rites will be held 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Road, with Mike Whitacre officiating. Cremation arrangements were made through Burkhart Funeral Home.
