Charles R. McMurry of Waveland passed away Sunday night, May 21, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. He was 86.
Mr. McMurry was a farmer and took care of his family. He liked to attend the sporting events that his family participated in. He also enjoyed boating, water skiing and yard sales. He had been a member of Browns Valley Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1962.
Born June 30, 1936, at Crawfordsville, he was the son of Robert L. McMurry and Grace Wilkinson McMurry. He graduated from Waveland High School in 1954 and attended the ag short course at Purdue. He married Rosalie Ann Larew on April 25, 1958. She passed away March 13, 1983. He later married Annabelle Hughes on July 3, 1988. She passed away Sept. 7, 2020.
Surviving family includes: son David (Cindy) McMurry; daughter Deanna (Ron) Ellingwood; son Dale (Kelly) McMurry; son Darin (Terri) McMurry; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as Ann’s children, Connie (Bill) Hughes Kesler, Randy (Shirley) Hughes and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; half-brother Dwight; and grandson Jason.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1 p.m., led by Pastor Bill Dawson. After the service, he will be laid to rest at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
