The project to improve the City Hall building is one step closer after the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved an agreement with Tecton Construction on Wednesday.
The agreement covers construction management services for the project, including budget monitoring during the design process, bidding, contracting, invoicing and inspections during construction. Design and construction management services total $232,500.
This follows Mayor Todd Barton’s recent announcement earlier this month at the city/county legislative lunch that city offices are expected to move to Fusion 54 next year while the city develops a long-term plan to address renovations and repairs to the nearly 100-year-old building.
The board also approved an agreement with NextSite for retail recruitment and commercial development and redevelopment services. The retail recruiting firm will help identify opportunities in the city’s growing areas. The three-year agreement costs $45,000 per year.
The board approved an agreement with the Crawfordsville Community School Corp. for school resource officers. Under the agreement, the school corporation will contribute funding $25,000 toward officers’ salaries. The agreement was updated this year to clarify language, and the school corporation will provide $73,000 for the current term through state grant funding for SROs.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a request from Jennifer Bean of Versiti Blood Center of Indiana for six parking spaces at the Crawfordsville District Public Library, 205 S. Washington St., from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 for a blood drive.
• Approved a task order with Commonwealth Engineers Inc. for assistance with an Industrial Pretreatment Program audit at the wastewater facility. The cost will not exceed $30,000.
• Approved an agreement with Matthew Endicott to resolve a dispute over wastewater fees for the property at 602 Cherry St. The property now uses a permitted septic system, and the city will repay $1,066 in wastewater fees for a specified period in exchange for a release of claims.
• Approved an amendment to the agreement with Biddle Construction for work on the Street Department’s facility at the yard waste site. The amendment covers requested interior changes at an additional cost of $7,400.
