City to conduct county-wide job fair

The city of Crawfordsville will host a county-wide job fair on Tuesday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the 4-H Fair Grounds.

Nearly 40 employers have already registered for the event with more continuing to be accepted. This job fair is available for all individuals looking for a job or a career change.

Sectors represented will include manufacturing, supply chain, banking and finance, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, law enforcement, public safety, retail, construction, HVAC, plumbing and electric. In addition to job opportunities, Ivy Tech Community College will be available to talk to job seekers about certifications and other opportunities to improve their skills. Representatives from WorkOne West Central will be available to offer resume tips and other information for workforce needs.

New to the job fair this year is the availability of Spanish translation upon request. Jeremy Lemus, executive director for the Montgomery County Leadership Academy and Stacy Sommer, executive director for the Crawfordsville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, have agreed to volunteer their time throughout the day to provide Spanish translation for those in need.

“There is unprecedented employment opportunity in our community and we are excited to host an event that allows those seeking such opportunity to connect with the areas great employers,” Crawfordsville Mayor Todd Barton said. “I truly appreciate so many area businesses taking time to participate, creating a one-stop shop for our residents.”
