The Sugar Creek Players invite the community to come experience the whodunit mystery of Murder on the Orient Express.
Laughter, drama and suspense take center stage after what should’ve been a peaceful train ride becomes the scene of a crime when American business owner Samuel Ratchett (Michael Patton) is murdered in his own compartment, and a snowdrift wreaks havoc, trapping the murderer and everyone else inside the Orient Express.
Thankfully, Hercule Poirot (Brian Bone), the world’s greatest Belgian detective, happens to be right at the scene of the crime. Audiences will get to peek into the mind of Poirot, who has just one day to look for evidence, interview and gather clues from the many eccentric and unassuming passengers, and piece the puzzle pieces together to solve the mystery of Ratchett’s murder before the train reaches the next station or before the murderer strikes again.
Featuring a cast of both veteran and new faces, The Sugar Creek Players are excited to bring the thrills, intellect, and humanity of Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel to The Vanity Theater. Under the direction of Katie Melvin and Daniel Simmons, with production by Nicki Grider, the cast and crew have come together to bring dynamic acting, lively staging, and an Art Deco set that will feel like a trip back in time.
Murder on the Orient Express runs for two weekends: Oct. 2-4 and 9-11.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth. Purchase tickets online at https://sugarcreekplayers.org/ticketing/.
