CMS A Team earns Civitan Young Hero award

Posted

The Crawfordsville Middle School A Team was presented the Civitan Montgomery County Young Hero Award along with a monetary donation on Wednesday by Brent Brinkley, president, and Jackie Flowers, president-elect, of the Montgomery County Civitan Club.

The A Team is the community service club of Crawfordsville Middle School. The seventh and eighth grade students in the organization range in age from 12 to 14 and suggest the service projects they want to perform in the community and within the school. A portion of the ongoing service projects of the club are as follows:

• Hospital Comfort Cart, which helps those who must accompany a family member to hospital in an emergency;

• ReinDear and Operation Toy Box, which helps those in need at Christimas time;

• Collection of school supplies and sports equipment for middle school students;

• Collected shoes for Stitchin Sisters, a group that makes quilts for veterans;

• CMS teacher mini-grants to help teachers buy things for their classrooms;

• Host a support staff luncheon as a thank you for aides and secretaries; and

• Canned food drive for those who need a bit of help.

The Montgomery County Civitan is delighted to recognized this outstanding group of young students as our newest Montgomery County Young Heroes for their service to the Montgomery County community.

Members of the community who would like to nominate individuals or groups in Montgomery County from pre-K through high school for the Montgomery County Young Hero should email MontgomeryCountyCivitan@gmail.com.
