Commissioners embark on listening tour

Posted

We are excited to announce the commissioners’ first meeting of our Town Hall Listening Tour will be hosted at 6 p.m. Thursday in the main shelter house at Tremaine Park, Waynetown.

This is the first of a series of listening sessions that we will be hosting over the next few months. In each session, we want to hear from residents about what county government is doing well, what it needs to improve on and what needs to be done to ensure Montgomery County reaches our goals.

Continuing outreach and communication are critical to making sure that elected leaders are focused on what matters most to the citizens of our county. As we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and begin to discuss county budgets and spending priorities for 2021, understanding how we can best align local resources to achieve the community’s goals is essential. We believe residents should have a say in that process.

The listening tour is a natural extension of the comprehensive planning process. As time goes on, it is important to reach out to citizens on a regular basis, listen to their concerns, answer their questions and adjust if need be. As local leaders, it is a great way to make sure we keep the county on the right track.

We’re excited to get out and visit each community. These listening sessions are opportunities to better understand how local government can meet the needs and expectations of residents. Our county has accomplished a great deal in recent years, but the future is even brighter if we work together to reach our potential.

I hope to see you Thursday at Waynetown park for lively dialogue and discussion about our county’s future, and maybe even a bite to eat. If you can’t make it to this meeting, don’t worry. We’ll be scheduling a listening session near you soon and will post the dates and times as they are finalized.
