Commissioners issue proclamation for Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Whereas, the role of the professional public safety telecommunicator is vital to the protection of human life and property, and

Whereas, the professional public safety telecommunicator is the pivotal link between citizens and those who provide services when accidents or emergency circumstances occur which require the assistance of first responders, and

Whereas, the professional public safety telecommunicators at the Central Communications Center provide this essential service for the residents and businesses of Montgomery County, and

Whereas, these professional public safety telecommunicators dispatch first responders for 12 law enforcement agencies, 10 fire agencies and 10 EMS agencies, and

Whereas, these professional public safety telecommunicators answered 67,464 calls and 3,052 texts in 2023 with 16,203 of them requesting a first responder, and

Whereas, the County is fortunate to be blessed with these professionals in Public Safety,

Now, therefore, the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners express their appreciation for the County’s public safety telecommunicators by proclaiming the week of April 14 to April 20, 2024 as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Montgomery County.
