Communities observe Memorial Day

Crawfordsville

The American Legion Post 72 Honor Guard will perform rifle salutes and taps at the following cemeteries on Monday:

Oak Hill South, 9:30 a.m.

Oak Hill on Grant Avenue, 9:45 a.m.

Old Town, 10 a.m.

Calvary, 10:15 a.m.

Oak Hill North, 11 a.m. The public is invited to Post 72 after the service for lunch, 101 Walter Remley Drive.

 

New Ross

10 a.m. Monday, at the cemetery. In case of inclement weather, the service will be conducted at the New Ross Christian Church.

 

Waynetown

9 a.m. Sunday, Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Speaker is Pastor Joe Humrichous. All veterans who have died in the past 12 months will be honored. David Sanders of Sanders Funeral Services Waynetown will read the names of those who have died since the 2023 Memorial Day. Patriotic music will be sung. Veterans in attendance, as well as families of all veterans, will be honored as they stand when their branch service song is played. The playing of Taps will conclude the service. There will be a few chairs available, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather the service will take place in the Waynetown Baptist Church.

 

Hillsboro

11 a.m. Sunday, Rose Hill Cemetery

 

Veedersburg

7:30-9 a.m. Monday for annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast in the community room of the Veedersburg City Building, 100 S. Main St.

10 a.m. Monday for ceremony, Veedersburg Fire Station overlooking War Memorial Park

 

Roachdale

VFW Post 3284, Roachdale, will conduct services at the following cemeteries on Monday:

Blakesburg, 8:15 a.m.

Bainbridge, 8:45 a.m.

Clear Creek (Heritage Lake), 9:15 a.m.

New Maysville, 9:45 a.m.

North Salem, 10:15 a.m.

Barnard, 10:45 a.m.

Roachdale, 11 a.m.

Ladoga, 11:30 a.m.

Roachdale Library, Noon
