Covington resident to seek Indiana State Senate, District 23 seat

COVINGTON — Current Fountain County Clerk Paula Copenhaver has announced that she is running for Indiana State Senate, District 23, in the 2022 election. The newly drawn District 23 includes Attica, Clinton, Covington, Rockville, Veedersburg, Waynetown, West Lafayette and Williamsport.

Copenhaver has served as Fountain County Clerk since 2016. Prior to her election to that position, she served as Fountain County Voter Registration Deputy Clerk (2016) and the Town of Kingman Deputy Clerk/Treasurer (2012 to 2016). She was president of the Fountain County Republican Women’s Club from 2014 to 2019 and served the Indiana Federation of Republican Women as Awards Chair and By-Laws Chair from 2017 to 2019.

As president of the Northern District Clerk’s Association, Copenhaver was recognized and awarded for Outstanding Service in 2019. In 2020, she was honored as Indiana Clerk of the Year along with all 92 county clerks. In 2021, she was nominated for the Marlene Sutton Clerk of the Year Award.

Her experience also extends to the private sector. From 2002 to 2015, Copenhaver owned and operated Water Well Drilling Inc., and acted as a licensed pump installer. Previously, she was a legal secretary at Rosenthal, Grieves, O’Bryan and Meyer. From 2003 to 2016, she served as a Home School Co-op Teacher, Since 2004, she has dedicated countless hours to the Spirit of Life Ministries.

“I’m running for State Senate because I’m concerned about the direction our country is headed. We must get back to the basics, which include strong conservative values, ensuring election integrity and looking for the truth that our founding fathers crafted into the U.S. Constitution,” said Copenhaver, who has been an educator in American history and the Constitution for almost a decade. “I will fully defend the Second Amendment. I will always protect the unborn. And I will search for and support fair, cost-effective jobs initiatives to provide hard-working families with economic opportunities.”

Copenhaver is a resident of Covington.
