Cozetta Jane Haines, 94, of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, surrounded by family.
Jane was born July 1, 1929, at Rochester, Indiana, to the late Herman and Mable Neher. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1947.
She married the love of her life, Schuyler “Skeet” Haines on March 11, 1949. They were married for 66 years, and had two children, David Haines, and Sharon Birt.
Jane was a homemaker until her children were in school, at that time she went to work for Hoover Elementary in the kitchen. She went on to work at Hoover for over 40 years, as a recess teacher and lunch detention teacher where she touched the lives of multiple generations and was always stopped at the store or wherever she went by someone that knew her.
Above all else, Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family more than anything else. She was a lifelong Christian and found true comfort in prayer.
Survivors include: son David (Camille) Haines of Daleville; daughter Sharon Birt of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Adam (Erica) Haines, Tiffany (Carson) Hamilton, Maggie Walsh, Eric Birt, Anthony Birt and Daylene Birt; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Naomi, Cameron, Keagan, Destiny, Scarlett, Stella, Baleighan and Brennan; and sister Maxine Vanner.
She is preceded in death by husband Skeet Haines; parents Herman and Mable Neher; and siblings, Freeman Neher, Cordella Taylor and Audrey Stephan.
