Crawfordsville Bands and its Boosters will host a new fundraising event in May.

The first-ever Crawfordsville Bands Spring Has Sprung Craft/Vendor Fair will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 at Crawfordsville High School.

Organizers are currently looking for vendors and hope to have 50-75 spots available inside and five to10 outdoor spots for food vendors.

“We are a newly formed parent organization that was created to help the Crawfordsville Band director run a successful band program and get the Marching Athenians back on the field,” said Janith Cram, fundraising coordinator.  “Our organization strives to encourage maximum participation in the band program. The CBB is committed to enriching the musical and personal experience of the band musicians and contribute to and improved quality of life at Crawfordsville Community Schools.”

Each year the CBB enlists the support of the local community (school, businesses, private) in supporting the organization. This is achieved through an outreach effort with the school programs and fundraising efforts.

“We believe our community benefits and increases in value from education though band, every student deserves the opportunity to experience and participate in band and active participation in band promotes personal expression, cooperation, and creative growth for students,” Cram said. “Band encourages self-discipline and self-efficacy and inherently presents the opportunity for people to identify and bridge cultural differences.”

The CBB organizes, oversees, supervises and chaperones all band related activities and events. It is an independent non-profit organization. Funds raised each year will go to general program expenses, performance fees, uniform costs and upkeep, new music, staff, instrument repairs and replacements.
