WEST LEBANON — Fountain Central, North Montgomery, and Southmont all hit the trail on Thursday evening at Seeger’s Hokum Karem at Hanging Rock Church Camp.
In the boy’s portion Benton Central was first with 10 points, while Fountain Central was second with 11. Southmont was third with 30, and North Montgomery did not score as a team. In the girl’s race Benton Central won with 10 points, Seeger second with 11, and Fountain Central third with 24.
The top area placing team on the girl’s side was the duo of Southmont’s Faith Allen and Jane Scheidler, taking sixth overall. In the boy’s race the duo of Carson Pietrzak and Justin Butts was second overall for Fountain Central, while Dakota Scott and Elijah McCartney were sixth for North Montgomery.
With each runner running three miles, for North Montgomery the duo of McCartney and Scott finished in 36:04, while Claire Bonwell and Lydia LaChance finished in 47:18.
“It gives me a good starting point to know exactly where we are at,” North Montgomery coach Cassie Hicks said. “We’ve been doing a lot of distance so we haven’t had a lot of time trials, so it lets me know exactly what we are working with.”
For Southmont Slayde Gardner and Austin Smothers finished in a time of 38:16, while Connor Keller and Aaron Evans finished in 39:02. Gerald Hutson and Toby Casteel finished in a time of 41:54. On the girl’s side, Allen and Scheidler finished in 42:49, while Emma Tyler and Sophie Reimondo finished in 51:20.
“We treat this meet as a high quality workout with some specific times we want to hit,” Mounties coach Courtny Cotten said. “I was happy to see my freshmen individuals really embrace the goals we and set and nail those.”
For Fountain Central on the boys side, Pietrzak and Butts finished in 33:45, while Dan Adams and Nathan Solomon finished in 36:4, while Kyle Mellady and Jacob Rice placed fourth in 35:22. On the girl’s side Tyler Bowling and Nadya Rahm-Bradford finished in 45:34, while Courtney Sims and Kenna Bible finished with a time of 46:58. Katie Hurt and Angela Gonzalez finished in 49:13.
