Denise F. Reese, 68, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Jan. 30, 2024, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.

Denise was an avid reader, quilter, mom, grandmother and friend to many. She was a member of several quilt groups, including Columbus Modern Quilters, Columbus Metropolitan Quilters, Connecting Threads and Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County. Denise was very excited to be sharing her love of quilting with her granddaughter Hannah and making blankets for her newly arrived granddaughter Arya. Denise served as a teacher and an amazing volunteer. She enjoyed volunteering for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and as a team mom for her children’s sports teams. Most recently she was a member of the Powell United Methodist Church, where she was active in sewing liturgical banners which adorned the sanctuary and liturgical garments for the church clergy.

Born July 30, 1955, at Indianapolis, Denise was the daughter of Clyde Harry Reese and Alice Houston Reese. She is a graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University, holding a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential.

Denise is survived by several family members: sons, Jeremiah (Shivani) Morehead and Kristian Morehead; daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Moreland; mother Alice Reese; and granddaughters, Hannah and Arya. Additional surviving family members include: brothers, Clint (Cindy) Reese and Joseph (Kristy) Reese; step-siblings, Michael (Tammy) Christensen and Linda Martin. She was also a fond aunt to several nieces and nephews and was a loving Godmother.

Denise was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. until her service commences at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville. Immediately following the service, burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

A memorial service will also be held the following day at Powell United Methodist Church, 825 Olentangy, Powell, Ohio.
