Dennis Edward Lynd, 73, of Waynetown passed away at approximately 6:09 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, in his home, following a short illness.

Dennis was born Aug. 8, 1950, in California, to the late Harlow and Frances Grumbles Lynd. He married Vickie Denise Cotham June 25, 1973 in Pontiac, Illinois. She survives.

Dennis was a graduate of Shafter High School in Shafter, California and Florida College. He was a preacher for Church of Christ congregations in Pontiac, Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Lexington, Illinois, before settling in Waynetown. He was employed by MasterGuard and retired from Kroger in Crawfordsville.

Dennis loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed books and was a prolific reader and was a gifted writer and often wrote about religion. He also wrote stories and songs. Before his health failed he enjoyed fishing and playing ping pong.

Surviving, along with his wife Vickie, are three sons, Nathan (Margaret) Lynd of rural Crawfordsville, Caleb (Holly) Lynd of Waynetown and Jeremy (Emily) Lynd of Limestone, Tennessee; daughter Heather Lynd of Waynetown; 10 grandchildren, Caspian (Matthew) Klinger, Aravis, Donovan, Brenden, Hank, Ronan, Gracie, Claira, Mae, Clark and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dennis Lynd Jr. and Joel Lynd; granddaughter Abigail; and sister Becky. His sister Diana passed away hours after his death.

Dennis’ family will greet guests from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
