The Montgomery County Free Clinic biggest fundraiser on Aug. 12 was an enormous success. “We are ecstatic to share that Dining with the Chefs raised over $61,000,” said executive director David Johnson. “This is the most successful Dining with the Chefs in the history of the clinic. I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the community’s generous outpouring of support.”
Each donation is life-changing for the clinic and the patients it serves. Donations help the clinic provide primary care, dental services, access to specialty care, free or reduced-cost medications, community support and so much more for more than 1,000 patients each year.
In addition to fabulous food and time spent socializing with friends, several awards were presented during the evening.
Pat and Gary Stull received a standing ovation for their 20-plus years of outstanding dedication and service to the clinic’s Meals on Wheels program.
The Montgomery County Free Clinic Leadership Award was given to Donna Hendrickson (immediate past board chair) and Nancy Sennett (past interim volunteer executive director), for their ability to lead and navigate Covid.
The evening culminated with the presentation of the Dr. Mary Ludwig Lifetime Service Award (named in honor of the clinic’s founder). This prestigious award was given to two volunteers who have been with the clinic since inception (and still volunteer today): Carolyn Snyder and nurse Sheila Evans.
The Montgomery County Free Clinic is currently only serving a fraction of those in need in the community.
“With the profit from this event, we know we can help serve even more residents,” Johnson said.
Per current clinic guidelines, under-insured adults in households of four making less than $90,000 might be eligible for our services. If you know someone who might qualify, refer them to our website at www.mcfreeclinic.org.
