Donica Routh (Parker) Miller, 71, of Covington passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at OSF in Danville, Illinois.

She was born Sept. 29, 1952, at Crawfordsville, to Donald Leslie and Phyllis Routh (Massing) Parker.

Donica graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1970. She graduated from DACC and received her LPN from Lakeview Nursing School. She married Monty “Ray” Miller on Dec. 15, 1978.

She worked 32 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs as an LPN and Occupational Therapist. She loved reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, riverboat casinos, and spending time with her husband traveling and fishing. She also entered her quilts into several fairs and the Vermilion County Museum and she placed for several prizes.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ray; two step-children, Jonathan Miller of Danville, Illinois, and Rebecca (Andy) Miles of Springfield, Tennessee; two sisters, Theda Parker of Tacoma, Washington, and Teresa (Christian) Saenger of Lafayette; several step-grandchildren; in-laws Arlyn (Alice) Miller, Dave Miller, Leroy Miller, Rick (Grace) Miller, Marsha (Curt) Gordon and Christy (Bill) Hoskins; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Donica was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donald and R. Janice (Stewart) Massing; paternal grandparents, Albert Lawson and Mary Sylvia (Everett) Parker; parents; brother Donald Albert Parker; and in-laws Sheryl (Richard) Kinney, Deanna (Russell Sr.) Johnson, Cathy (Leroy) Miller and Ella Miller.

Donica loved her family dearly. She was always sharing the fruits of her gifts and talents. She would make Christmas decorations, quilts, pot holders, pots of vegetable soup and desserts. If you had a need, Donica would go out of her way even, when she was sick herself, to make sure you were taken care of. She would even donate her paid time off to co-workers when they were in need.

A service in honor of Donica will be held at 11 a.m. CST Saturday, Jan. 6 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois. There will be a visitation beforehand from 9-11 a.m. CST, also at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.
