Posted

The Dorothy Q Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate 100 years of home ownership with an open house 1-3 p.m. Saturday at 400 E. Wabash Ave.

The home was built in 1882 by Col. Isaac Compton Elston, a member of a prestigious family that settled here in 1824 and helped establish Crawfordsville and Montgomery County. The house joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Dorothy Q members have been preserving and cherishign the beloved chapter house since it became theirs.

The home is located in the historic Elston Grove District next door to Lane Place, home of Sen. Henry S. Lane.
