As a recent high school graduate, he joined the US Air Force and then after practicing and working extremely hard was accepted into the Air Force band. He started as a saxophone player then switched to the clarinet. During his 20 years in the Air Force Band, he traveled to 35 different countries. The band helped to raise the moral or our troops and to foster goodwill. The military band played for many different occasions for state and foreign dignitaries, political officials, foreign diplomats as well as film/movie stars and military services for different types of ceremonies, memorials and funeral services. After he retired, he became a member of the Montgomery County Civic Band. The band has grown from 35 to now 50 members. Ketchum has been the conductor for 17 years. He concluded his presentation with playing God Bless America.

After the presentation, all members and guests adjourned into the dining room for refreshments provided by hostess committee, Rachel Brown as chair with Barb Taylor, Judy Fifer and Ericia Church.
