Abigail Eutsler of Linden graduated from Butler University College of the Arts School of Music earning a bachelor’s degree in music cum laude. The specialized five-year, 160-credit-hour degree program combined studies in vocal performance and choral music education, leading to a double major and P-12 Indiana teaching certification.
Additionally, she was named to the spring semester Dean’s List in the Jordan College. It recognizes students whose grade point average is in the top 20% of all eligible students in their college of enrollment. She was also elected a member of the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda by the Delta Zeta Chapter. Pi Kappa Lambda is an exclusive national honor society for music, recognizing musicianship and academic scholarship.
Eutsler has accepted a choir teacher position in the Franklin Community School Corporation at Custer Baker Intermediate School where she will teach fifth grade choir and sixth grade general music.
“During student teaching I realized that I really liked elementary aged students but also teaching beginning singers, so this job is literally the best of both worlds. I student taught in Franklin and I am very glad to be back. I look forward to growing this program and to meeting my kiddos in August,” she said.
Eutsler is a teaching artist in the Butler Community Arts School and a member of the Circle City Chamber Choir (C4), an Indianapolis-based, semi-professional vocal ensemble that performs choral repertoire spanning multiple eras and genres.
She studied privately with Dr. Oliver Worthington, Butler University’s Voice Area Coordinator and the Producing Director of Butler Opera Theatre and Grammy nominated Mezzo-Soprano Kirsten Gunlogson, Adjunct Instructor of Voice.
In 2025, she was awarded a $4,000 stipend from the Butler Summer Institute to study Pre-Menstrual Vocal Syndrome impacts on vocal production across different age ranges. During the summer research intensive she pursued research questions, contributed to scholarly conversations, and produced creative works while being mentored by faculty members and supported by a peer community of student researchers and artists. She presented results of the study during the Indiana Music Education Association Professional Development Conference earlier this year. Choral Music Education Professor Dr. Becky Marsh served as her faculty mentor.
Eutsler was a four-time Indiana Scholar of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Free and Accepted Masons and a twice received the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite national Abbott Scholarship. She also twice received the Woman’s Department Club of Indianapolis Music Merit Award Scholarship and is a past recipient of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation statewide scholarship.
In her freshman year, she received the Efroymson Prize for Diversity in Vocal Performance, from which she donated a portion of the prize money to the School of Music to acquire more diverse repertoire for its music library and to assemble a group of diverse classical musicians from the Indianapolis area to perform and dialogue with Butler students.
She was a member of the University Chorale and was a soloist with the Butler Symphony Orchestra. She performed on tour throughout Brazil, South America with members of the Chorale and Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. She also performed with the Chorale and ISC during the world premiere of “Toward A Secret Sky” with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis.
Eutsler is past president of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity Zeta chapter, served on the JCA Student Advisory Board, was a member of the Butler President’s Club and Honors Program. She completed internships with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, and was the ISC Administrative Assistant. She also taught choir at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation in its Religious School.
