Lynn Smith, 63, of Ladoga passed from this world at 10:20 p.m. July 15, 2023, at IU Health Hospital, Indianapolis, with her family by her side.
Lynn was a beautiful soul who didn’t know a stranger. She was born Oct. 31, 1959, at Indianapolis, to the late Donald and Patricia Benge. She married the love of her life, Bobby J. Smith, on Dec. 26, 1980, at Jamestown. He preceded her in death.
Lynn was employed at Dollar General in Ladoga and loved all her co-workers as family. Lynn was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church, where she attended Bible study there with Karla Bradley. Lynn had a grasp of the good Lord and knew where she came from and where she would return. She touched many lives, was therapeutic, and a life light to many. Younger people adopted her as a second mom. She loved to be called Mom or Momma from all her babies whether she gave birth to them or not.
Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, Adam (Mary) Smith of Ladoga and Thomas (Layla) Lovins of Valley View, Texas; sister Sue Benge Lathrop of Barnard, Indiana; brothers, David (Paula) Benge of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Joe (Kathy) Benge of Roachdale; six granddaughters; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death was her firstborn, Robert L. Smith, and brother Donald T. Benge.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 21 at Ladoga Christian Church, 124 W. Elm St., Ladoga, with Pastor Robert Vice officiating. Friends are invited for a time of visitation at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service. Lynn will be laid to rest at Stoner Cemetery in Ladoga between her husband Bobby and son Robert.
