Ezekiel “Zek” D. Petrey, a resident of the Mellott-Veedersburg area, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 24, 2023, following an accident. He was 37.
Zek liked to play video games and spend time with his son as well as his nieces and nephews. He worked at Republic Services and then for the Whitesville Mill Service. He was a 2006 graduate of Crawfordsville High School.
Born Oct. 10, 1986, at Lafayette, he was the son of Rebecca Pounders and David Petrey. He also had a second mom in Michelle Gaskins Hopkins.
Surviving family includes: son Nathan Petrey; two brothers, Adam Petrey and Nick Gaskins; sister Sarah Petrey; and four nieces and nephews, Seann Gaskins, Jordan Simmons, Nikolas Gaskins and Miracle Gaskins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial gathering will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville.
