Every one wonders about the future. All of us would like to know what the future holds. We have concerns about our country, government, health, family, jobs, finances and many other things. The complexities and threats of these days cause much anxiety in many lives. Even the technological advances worry us with scams and the stealing of our data. The rapid fall of our morals in our culture is deeply concerning to many. There is a great deal of fear and worry.
Yet, we must remember that the Christian life must be lived one day at a time, not a week or a month, but one day at a time. God teaches us to pray for our “daily” bread. Remember the wonderful verse: “This is the day the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it,” (Psalm 118:24). One of my favorite versus each day as we begin the day should be in a calm faith in God’s presence, thanking Him that He is with us and rejoicing in this great truth every moment of every day.
Don’t live in worry. God is in control and is always right on time when we need Him. There is no panic button in heaven. Basically, there are only two ways to face our daily lives: by faith or fear. Our attitude about each day helps build our determination to look at our future by faith. The Bible tells us, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” (2 Timothy 1:7).
You see, faith and fear are opposite. Faith is taking God at His word and resting your heart and mind in Him, (Proverbs 3:5-6). Fear is focusing your mind on your problem or worry in spite of what God has said to us (Philippians 4:6-7). Learn to trust God in spite of your feelings of fear. Faith (believing in spite of your feelings on fear) is the most dynamic force available to mankind. Knowing the Lord will never let us down.
Be like the man who always reads the last chapter of the book first. When asked why, he replied, “This way no matter how much trouble the hero gets into, I don’t worry because I know it is going to be alright.” The Bible tells us everything is going to turn our well for the Christian in spite of the circumstances. Remember to read John 14:1-6, “Let not your heart be troubled …”
