Fall arrives with Vet Expo slated

Posted

We have been busy this month with 79 phone calls; five vets that we took to the VA hospital; and I had a total of 27 people into my office this month to help with claims.

The Veterans Expo will be from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at the American Legion Post 72. High dose flu and COVID shots will be available. Bring your Medicare card and COVID vaccine record. Sugar Creek Eye Care will be on hand as well as Dr. Sabrina Thomas from Wabash College with her book, “Scares of War.”

A biscuits and gravy breakfast sponsored by Blue Star Mothers will be served.

The VFW, DAV, American Legion and Daughters of American Revolution will distribute the book “Time to Honor” along with a DVD, A Journey Home and an Ebook with other stories for anyone who served between the years of 1955-1975.

Hoosier Heartland State Bank there will have a 50/50 drawing for a $500 drawing. The veteran gets half and the other half goes to a charity of his or her choosing.

A Veterans Day Parade, sponsored by VFW, American Legion Post, DAV, Blue Star Mothers and DAR is planned for 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in the downtown. Golf carts will be available for those who want them. Contact Gary Bell at the VFW Post (364-0937) or Joe Ellis at the Veteran Service Office (361-4133) if you would like a golf cart. Also if there are any Gold Star mothers or fathers who would like to be included in the parade, call us.

Nearly 15,000 pharmacies are leaving the Tricare Network next month. On Oct. 24, Tricare network will lose a total of 14,963 in pharmacies. However, Tricare is still in the business to meet or exceed the quality of service it has been entitled to. In a separate email Express Scripts said it will continue to meet or exceed Tricare’s requirements.

I will be at the American Legion Post 72 from 1-4 p.m. Thursday and 1-4 p.m. Oct. 27 at the VFW Post 1431 for visits. You don’t need to be a member to come in and to speak to me.
