On Oct. 5, Crawfordsville Fire Chief Scott Busenbark spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club. Busenbark has been a member of the fire department for 36 years and fire chief for seven years. The fire department is contracted with the City of Crawfordsville and four or five townships outside of the city for ambulance service. Joining the department as an EMT requires a five to sixth month training course and joining as a paramedic requires a year and a half of training. The department faces many challenges, including the growth of the city. Six new paramedics have been hired.
