NEW MARKET — A New Market home is a total loss after firefighters spent nearly six hours battling a fire Friday morning.
The New Market Fire Department responded shortly after
5 a.m. to a house fire in the 200 block of East Pine Street. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze shortly after 11 a.m.
The homeowner, Nevada Allen, was not inside the residence when the fire started and no injuries were reported.
New Market Fire Chief Aaron Thompson said no foul play is suspected, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The Crawfordsville, Ripley Township and Ladoga fire departments assisted at the scene.
Thompson also thanked Carl and Mitzi Keller of New Hope Christian Church for providing food and water to firefighters as they worked.
