The annual Christmas luncheon party and meeting was held at 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

President Karen Cook welcomed everyone to the annual luncheon and dirty Santa exchange.

Following a prayer, 32 members enjoyed a buffet lunch of tomato bisque and broccoli cheese soups, beef and cheese and ham and cheese slider sandwiches, fruit platter, tossed salad and assorted mini desserts.

The hostesses were the 2023 executive committee of president Karen Cook, vice president Denise Ducharme, treasurer Lana Presslor and secretary Nancy Bowes, with assistance from Paula Furr. Table decorations were potted poinsettias and small decorated bags of candy treats.

After lunch, Cook opened the business meeting.

December, January and February birthdays were acknowledged.

Terri Trinkle reminded members to monitor the downtown pots after Christmas. She suggested that all greenery be pulled out of the pot if the greenery start to look bad.

Cook presented the following membership awards: Margo Campanelli, 25 years; Donna Strand, 25 years; Trinkle, 25 years; Sharon Barton, Belinda Grimble, Diane Fairfield and Dee Freazee, all 10 years; Heide Gobreski and Denise Ducharme, both five years. Ann Hatfield was honored as a member for 40 years.

Meribeth Kussmaul received the annual Golden Shovel Award.

New officers were installed for 2024: Cook, president; Ducharme, vice president; Janet Linton, secretary; Presslor, treasurer; and Carolyn Fisher, historian.

The “Money Jar” drawing was held. Seven lucky members received gift cards.

President Karen announced that two “New Officers Meetings” will be held Jan. 8 and Jan. 22.

Members were reminded that the next regular meeting will be held March 5, 2024, at St. John’s Social Hall.

Following the meeting, members participated in a dirty Santa gift exchange. There were many laughs as members opened a gift, only to have it taken by someone else.
