Darren Forman wears many hats. He is a paramedic and works with expectant mothers and mothers through Project Swaddle. He is also the fire chief at Coal Creek Fire and Rescue, the Montgomery County Coroner and owner of Forman Blasters Pyrotechnics. He has lived in Montgomery County for 35 years.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and going on cruises. He will sing along to most classic rock songs, but nothing makes him get up and dance.

Darren is married to his wife, Kathy. They have four children: Trevor, Hannah, Megan and Zoe.

He said he was “honored and humbled” in being asked to be a Star. Darren decided to participate because he supports the programs of the Youth Service Bureau and the mission to serve the children of Montgomery County. He has been involved with the YSB for the last 20 years and feels that this is his opportunity to give back to them.

Darren believes the public should come to the event and support Katie and him because, as he stated, “A few years ago I was in a pretty bad accident, and coupled with my having absolutely no experience with dance, it will be entertaining to watch as I attempt to be a ‘fast learner.’ My partner has her work cut out for her and to see what she has taught me will be well worth an evening of anyone’s time. So I ask for folks to come out and help me support this very worthy cause, and enjoy a great meal and some very fine entertainment.”

Katie Wallace is retired. She lives in Putnam County, but has come here to participate in Dancing with the Montgomery Stars for three years. Katie has five adult children, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another due in May.

She was introduced to Middle Eastern dance 20 years ago and 15 years of that was spent performing professionally in Indianapolis. She also taught and choreographed. Her oldest daughter was a ballroom instructor. She taught Katie to follow the technique of many dances.

For the last 10 years, she has taken private and group lessons in Terre Haute with a fantastic instructor. She was a member of the Putnam County DWTS for seven years. Katie’s favorite genre of music is Foxtrot (the Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett era) and West Coast Swing followed by Rumba.

Katie participates in this event because it’s important to “give back” and help children in any community to succeed.

“If what I love to do, which is dance, contributes to raising monies needed for programs for these children then I’m all in,” she said.

She thinks the public should come and support the youth in the community and the folks who work at the Youth Service Bureau for all the amazing work they do.

“Our stars work so hard and step way out of their comfort zone to put on a great show for this wonderful cause,” she said. “The time, energy, and fun, yes we have fun, is something the public must come and see for themselves. My partners have been fantastic people with hearts as big as gold. I can promise that a night with DWTMCS will be worth your time. You will laugh, applaud, and be entertained like you have never been before. It is an evening you will remember with a smile on your face!”
