Friday night three of the four area girls basketball teams were in action. All of which were on the road. Here’s how the night panned out for Crawfordsville, North Montgomery, and Fountain Central.
Chargers make it two straight wins
North Montgomery girls basketball has now one two straight games and they’ve came on back-to-back nights on the road. After a securing a 56-39 win over Frontier on Thursday, the Chargers hit the road again to take on Attica. A slow first half resulted in North taking a 10-7 lead into halftime. The host Ramblers out-scored the Chargers 12-8 in the third to lead 19-18 heading into the fourth. But North had the final answer in the final eight minutes responding with a 13-5 final frame to earn a 31-24 victory.
Piper Ramey led the Chargers with 11 with freshman Caelyn Carpenter adding in seven. Mady Holt scored five while Macee Norman and Krestyn Bradford each chipped in four.
The Chargers improve to 2-2 on the season and they will be back on the road Tuesday to open up Sagamore Conference play when they travel to Case Arena to battle Frankfort.
Mustangs now 4-1 with win vs Bronchos
Fountain Central traveled to take on Lafayette Jeff on Friday night and came away with a 43-33 victory. A strong start saw FC get out to a 17-4 lead after a quarter and then hold a 28-15 lead at halftime. After three FC was still up double figures at 36-22 before being able to cruise in the final eight minutes.
The Mustangs improve to 4-1 on the season and are quickly back in action Saturday afternoon with another road trip to Rossville.
Athenians drop SAC opener to Bruins
Crawfordsville girls basketball opened up Sagamore Conference play on Friday with a visit to Tri-West. It ended up being an all-around rough night for CHS as they fell to the Bruins 52-10.
CHS falls to 0-3 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Fountain Central.
