Donald H. WelieverMay 8, 1920-Aug. 14, 2005Donald H. Weliever, 85, Darlington, died 12:47 a.m. Sunday in St. Clare Medical Center. Mr. Weliever was a bookkeeper for Darlington elevator for many years.His memberships included Darlington United Methodist Church; charter member of Post 302, Darlington; Franklin Township trustee for 10 years; Elks Lodge; and he was president of Darlington Consolidated schools. He was a 1938 graduate of Darlington High School and attended Indiana Business College. He was a World War II Army veteran where he served with the 151st infantry Company E and earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.He was born May 8, 1920, at Darlington, to Harry M. and Gladys Cox Weliever. He married Emma Lou Vannice Aug. 1, 1948. She survives.Also surviving are three sons, Steve, South Dakota, Stan (Linda), Falmouth, Maine, and Stu (Carolyn), Crawfordsville; daughter Sabra Weliever, Indianapolis; brother Jim Weliever, Darlington; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.One brother, Richard, and sister Mary Frances, are deceased.Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Wednesday in Darlington United Methodist Church with Jim Spencer and pastor Mike Boardman officiating. Burial with graveside rites by the American Legion will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Darlington.Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Tuesday in the church.Memorials may be made to Darlington Covered Bridge, C/O Darlington Parks Department.
