Governor appoints Eutsler to third term on Serve Indiana Commission

Posted

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb recently appointed Mark Eutsler, Ph.D., Ed.D., of Linden to a third four-year term on the Serve Indiana Commission, a division of the Department of Workforce Development for the State of Indiana. Its mission is to advance service and volunteerism by informing, connecting, and promoting opportunities and resources that enrich the lives of Hoosiers. Programs and initiatives include AmeriCorps State, Day of Service Grants and the Awards for Excellence Ceremony.

A past three-term chair of the commission, Eutsler is active in the Association of State Commission and States for Service Coalition and served on its inaugural Leadership Council. The council successfully advocated for passage of the Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Act in the 115th Congress in September 2018, which fully funded AmeriCorps through September 2019, so the agency was unaffected by the 35-day federal government shutdown from December 2018-January 2019.

Eutsler is an adjunct professor of education in the Olivet Nazarene University Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership program and a facilitator, consultant and coach with The Edge, a client-centric practice that builds individual leadership capacity and maximizes organizational governance as leadership.

Eutsler previously served on and was chair of the Indiana Occupational Safety Standards Commission as an appointee of Governor Joe Kernan. He was also a member of the Hoosier Celebration ’88 Commission as an appointee of Governor Bob Orr. He also received Selective Service System appointments from President Bill Clinton in 1993 and President Barack Obama in 2011.

Eutsler was named a Distinguish Hoosier by Governor Evan Bayh in 1988 and Governor Mitch Daniels in 2011. He has received the Sagamore of the Wabash awards from Governor Kernan in 2004, Governor Mike Pence 2013, and Governor Holcomb in 2018. He received the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden in 2021.

Eutsler is part of the seven-member cohort of Multiplying Good’s 2023 ChangeMakers in Indiana. It cultivates the next level of impact from our state’s preeminent servant leaders. He was also recently appointed a member of the Global Chamber® Indianapolis Executive Board of Directors as a Global Advisor.
