A 29-year-old Greencastle man died Tuesday at Performance Master Coil in Crawfordsville.
The Crawfordsville Fire Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded at 7:31 p.m. to the business at 3752 E. C.R. 350S.
The sheriff’s office identified the man as Jarrod L. Goebel, 29, of Greencastle. Goebel was an employee of Performance Master Coil.
Montgomery County Sheriff Ryan Needham said Goebel was deceased when emergency personnel arrived. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene.
Needham said there is no criminal investigation into Goebel’s death and the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration has taken over the investigation.
Needham said it appeared Goebel had been crushed by a stack of metal strapping bands after they fell on top of him. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
Performance Master Coil declined to comment on the incident.
