Gregory “Greg” Wayne Vice, 71, passed away unexpectedly March 30, 2024, at his home in Ladoga.

We honor the life of a remarkable man who touched the lives of many with his selflessness and kindness. We find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Linda, in the embrace of eternity. Their partnership was a testament to the enduring power of love, and their legacy of devotion will forever be etched in our hearts.

He was born Sept. 23, 1952, to Virginia (Bennett) and Kenneth George Vice. He graduated from Paris High School in 1969. Greg and Linda were married Nov. 7, 1969.

He is survived by son Kenny D. (Crystal) Vice; daughter Kimbie (Mark) Casteel; grandchildren, Cassy Vice, Kyle (Halee) Vice and Sydney and Toby Casteel; great-grandchildren, Vinny, Camden, Grace and Annie; and several nieces and nephews.

Greg was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; granddaughter Corley Casteel; and siblings, Karen Wang and Keith “Pete” Vice.

Greg’s passion for automobiles ignited at a young age and burned brightly throughout his life. He started his career at Hyster in Danville, Illinois, and then later joined the family business at Kenny Vice Ford Sales. He also owned Nifty Fifty Louver Company. Greg was a wizard in the garage, with an uncanny ability fix just about anything. He enjoyed playing guitar, attending car shows, swap meets, anything that involved car racing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #00144. He attended Ladoga Christian Church and was an ordained minister.

Guided by his deep faith, Greg saw every person he encountered as a beloved child of God, worthy of love and respect. His warm smile and compassionate spirit made him a friend to all, and he made it his mission to spread God’s love though acts of kindness and generosity. Throughout his life, Greg embodied the spirit of giving, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. With an abundance of patience, Greg mentored countless young men and women who shared his passion for mechanics.

Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Ladoga Christian Church. Funeral and Masonic services will be held that day at 4 p.m. He will be laid to rest following the service at Ladoga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mountie Mission. Greg’s unwavering faith and loving spirit have left an indelible mark on our hearts. His memory will continue to inspire us to live lives of kindness and compassion in service to others.
