Crawfordsville senior Jesse Hall become the 10th player in Crawfordsville boys’ basketball history to eclipse the 1,000-point scoring mark with a 33-point effort in a county win over North Montgomery on Tuesday night.
Hall is the first to achieve it since Cameron Harris broke the barrier in 2018, and the fourth to do so under coach David Pierce. Caleb Rasmussen, who graduated in 2012, finished with 1,033 points. Trent Crabtree also broke the 1,000-point mark, but spent one of his four years playing at Fishers.
Athenian greats Don Shelton, Bob Williams, Earl Dickerson, and Rich Fuller each belong to the 1,000-point club — along with Matt McCarty and Matt Petty. Joe Pierce also reached the mark, but played three seasons at Crawfordsville and one at Waynetown.
With five regular season games left and the IHSAA tournament, Hall, who is averaging 17 points per game as a senior, has plenty of time to climb high on both the Crawfordsville and Montgomery County all-time scoring lists.
Petty is Crawfordsville’s top scorer with 1,608 points, which ranks fourth all-time in the county. Linden’s Daryl Warren is the top scorer with 2,083 points, followed by North Montgomery’s D.J. Byrd and his 1,785 points. Waveland’s Bill Greve is third with 1,777. Most recently, Southmont’s Cam Chadd scored 1,479 points before graduating in 2018. Chadd ranks fifth on the county scoring list.
McCarty ranks second for the Athenians with 1,410 points.
At 17 points per game with at least six games to play, Hall has a chance to finish his career third all-time on Crawfordsville’s point list, and in the top-20 overall for the county.
