Harrison Steel Castings announces multi-million dollar investments

ATTICA — Harrison Steel Castings Company, a global leader in the production of precision-engineered steel casting solutions, announced that the company has invested millions of dollars in a range of in-plant infrastructure improvements and innovations this year.

Specializing in the production of complex, large-scale components for various industries — including heavy equipment, power generation, and industrial machinery — the company has earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and its commitment to technological innovation. The planned investments total more than $10 million.

The first piece of equipment is a 12.5-ton capacity spinner/hanger blast, built by Blast Cleaning Technologies, that replaces a 47-year-old piece of equipment. In all, the company has invested a total of $4.5 million dollars in the new blast endeavor, a key piece of equipment in the processing of steel castings.

“In addition to the general benefits of new equipment,” said Geoff Curtis, vice president and general manager, “the new blast has also been upsized to keep up with Harrison Steel’s ever-changing product profile.”

Over the decades, Harrison Steel has continuously evolved its processes, incorporating cutting-edge technologies to ensure the highest standards of product integrity, reliability and performance.

A second investment of $4 million is for a state-of-the-art Mazak 5-axis machining center installed in Harrison Steel’s 29,000 square foot machining building, which was built in 2012. This will be the sixth machine added to this area. This machine provides capabilities comparable to existing equipment, but will provide a much needed increase in capacity as Harrison Steel continues to expand their Finish Machining capabilities and offerings to customers.

The final investment of $1.7 million is for a new Andromat Manipulator. This cab-driven manipulator assists in metal removal, a necessary step in the metal casting process. The three projects help Harrison Steel continue to compete and excel in a competitive global marketplace.

“The global economy demands a new class of companies that has the people, systems, strategies and flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions,” Curtis said. “Harrison Steel is one of those companies, and these investments confirm our commitment to our customers.”

Located in Attica since its founding in 1906, Harrison Steel Castings has built a reputation for premium precision steel castings. The company stands as a paragon of community stewardship, employee enrichment, and the determined quest for manufacturing perfection.
